Solar Frontier has announced that it has closed deals to supply CIS solar modules to projects in India under National Solar Mission and Gujarat State program, totaling more than 30MW to be installed by the end of 2011. Clients expect stand-out performance from Solar Frontier because of the high efficiency of its CIS modules and the suitability of CIS technology for the hot conditions found in India. "Our clients in India have particularly taken note of Solar Frontier's high performance results in Thailand, which is very hot like significant parts of India," said Yuichi Kuroda, Vice President, International Business at Solar Frontier. "CIS solar panels are gaining a reputation as the sunbelt leader." "We were very impressed with Solar Frontier's CIS technology due to its high efficiency and low temperature coefficient," said one of the clients. "The temperatures are very high in the part of India where we are installing, so the fact that CIS technology gives more power output than other technologies at higher temperatures was a key factor for choosing Solar Frontier over other tenders. This project is just the first step in a long-term strategy for us to install more solar capacity going forward - and we will continue to partner with Solar Frontier for more projects in other parts of India." "India represents an important growth market for Solar Frontier as it installs solar projects across the sun-rich country," said Kuroda. "And these installations are important to us as we start to build recognition of Solar Frontier's presence in the region and our technology across India. The suitability of CIS in generating more power in hot conditions means we expect further partnerships to supply booming demand for affordable solar panel performance for installations in India and in other countries across the sunbelt region." Solar Frontier's modules are able to deliver higher overall energy output (kWh) under real weather conditions. In operating conditions, a lower temperature coefficient than crystalline silicon modules means more kWh produced under hot conditions such as those found in high-growth sunbelt countries. Solar Frontier also recently announced that its new gigawatt-scale Kunitomi plant in Miyazaki, Japan is now running at full commercial operations, giving the company the necessary production capacity to meet worldwide demand for a new standard in affordable solar panel performance.
