Tecta Solar Installs 541.8-kWp Solar Photovoltaic System

Tecta Solar, a division of Tecta America Corporation, recently completed the installation of a 541.8-kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system for Shop Solar LLC in Whitinsville, Mass.

The system is projected to generate 627 MWh of energy in its first year of operation, which is equivalent to powering 86 average Massachusetts homes for a year.

The system is installed on two rooftops in the building complex.

The solar professionals at Tecta Solar provided a turn-key solution for Shop Solar and managed the project from start to finish. Services included design, engineering, procurement, construction, SREC registration and commissioning of the roof-mounted project. Prior to the installation of the solar PV system, Tecta's local roofing operating unit replaced the roofs.

"This installation is the first part of a two-phase project," says Brett Chapman, Tecta Solar's General Manager of New England. "Phase two is a 231-kWp system with Suntech polycrystalline modules and Uni-Solar thin-film laminates that will be finished by the end of the year."

Tecta Solar installed the first commercial solar photovoltaic system to be qualified for the Massachusetts RPS Solar Carve-Out, a 142.6-kWp system that has been in operation for over a year.
