Suntech Power Holdings has announced that it will supply Sunergic SA with the solar panels for a 1MW solar system for Services Industriels de Geneve (SIG), a Swiss utility. The SIG 1MW solar project is one of the largest in Switzerland to date.

"Switzerland has demonstrated a clear commitment to pursuing sustainable energy solutions and we are pleased to partner with Sunergic to bring solar into the mix," said Jerry Stokes, Suntech's VP of Strategy and Business Development.

"With Suntech's European headquarters located in Schaffhausen, we are in the process of uncovering the potential for more solar projects in Switzerland and other new markets across Europe."

C. Hennard, Sunergic's Chairman, said, "Sunergic is delighted to have won the tender for the SIG solar project despite strong competition. We believe that the quality and credibility of the Suntech brand made the difference. With this result, we are well positioned to become a leader in the Swiss solar market, and look forward to working with Suntech on future projects."
