Norwegian police found three bodies in a mountainous region hit by a snowstorm and feared more had been killed, rescuers said Thursday.

"We are not ruling out other victims," spokesman Nils-Ole Sunde said from Sola in the southwest of the country, adding that several backpacks had been found at the scene where the bodies lay half-covered in snow.

Sunde said authorities thought they might be strangers to the area on a cross-country skiing trip who had been caught in the bad weather, as no one had been reported missing locally.
