Trace Systems Inc. has been awarded a five-year, $64 million follow-on task order under the U.S. Army's Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems and Services (GTACS II) contract vehicle to sustain deployable communications capabilities for U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) and Western Hemisphere Command-Forward (WHC-FORWARD).

The award extends work Trace has performed under the Deployable Communications Capabilities Systems (DCCS) program over the past four years. DCCS provides the mobile communications backbone that USNORTHCOM relies on for disaster response operations, civil support missions, and coordination with mission partners across its area of responsibility.

Under the new task order, Trace will continue delivering a range of technical services including system design and modification, technical refresh cycles, unified communications, satellite and terrestrial transport support, cybersecurity compliance, vehicle integration, and full lifecycle sustainment of DCCS hardware assets.

The contract scope spans vehicle-mounted mobile command platforms as well as SATCOM, radio, and other deployable communications systems. The work supports both routine military exercises and rapid-response civil support operations, where interoperable communications between military units and civilian emergency organizations is a critical requirement.

Kenneth Hilton, chief operating officer of Trace Systems, described the program as a no-fail mission requiring rapid deployment of mobile, interoperable communications. Hilton noted that the company has supported DCCS for four years and will continue building on that experience to deliver mission-critical capabilities for USNORTHCOM and WHC-FORWARD.

Trace Systems describes its core business as multi-domain mission solutions combining secure satellite communications, edge computing, digital modernization, and cyber-resilient architectures. The Tampa-based company positions itself as a provider of defense communications infrastructure from orbit to tactical edge.

The GTACS II vehicle is a U.S. Army contract mechanism used to acquire advanced communications systems and associated services in support of global military operations. Task orders issued under GTACS II cover a range of satellite, terrestrial, and integrated communications requirements for Army and joint force customers.
