BAE Systems' commercial GXP Xplorer software is to be used to modernize the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's data stores and libraries.

The management software will be deployed globally to support the agency's transition from legacy image product libraries to commercial-based information storage capabilities and allow easier sharing of data, the company said.

"NSG analysts face the time-consuming challenge of searching through ever-increasing amounts and types of data," said Rex Ballard, general manager of Geospatial eXploitation Products at BAE Systems. "GXP Xplorer allows analysts to quickly search through millions of records and zero in on the right piece of data, enabling them to generate finished products that drive actionable intelligence."

Provision of the software comes under the agency's Information Store contract. The contract provides worldwide licensing of the BAE Systems software and includes options to operationally field additional licenses to the NSG through September 2022.

No information was provided by BAE Systems on the monetary value of the contract.
